Stampings: OBVERSE TANG: Ka – Bar CLEVELAND OHIO 1232 REVERSE TANG: STAINLESS JAPAN KA-BAR Was sold to the Cole National Corporatiobn of Cleveland, Ohio in or about 1966 who ran the firm as a subsidiary. Many of the older markings were used on reproductions and special editions. As can be seen this knife was manufactured in Japan for the firm, a not uncommon practice and the Ka-Bar quality level is well maintained. The Ka-Bar Name was sold to Alcas Cutlery of Pennsylvania in 1996. The Upper and lower case Ka-Bar has been in use from 1923 to the present.
